I don't think much of Hinton. An academic. Got a cushy "thought" job at Google. Didn't innovate much since the 80s.
So I was taken aback when he got the Turing prize. For what I thought.
Yah thats not the PC view. I guess he got it cause hes old and probably fairly smart. But still. Please explain to me his big contribution to science and I'll grumble less.
